ANNUAL DINNER HK 2007

You are cordially invited to one of the highlight events of the year--
Cambridge University Chinese Society Annual Dinner 2007.

We are very honoured to have Mr. Wong Yan Lung BC.JP. THe Secretary of
Justice of Hong Kong at our Annual Dinner. He will be delivering a
delightful and inspiring speech about his time as an undergraduate lawyer
at Cambridge and sharing his story of success with all of us.

AGM and Annual Dinner

1. AGM

Our AGM will be held on 9th March (Friday), when we will elect our new Executive Committee 2007-08.
Candidates are each required to submit a manifesto, which will be published and distributed to members for
the purpose of voting in the Annual General Meeting. The following posts are open for election:

- External Secretary
- Publicity Officer
- Sports Secretary

2. Annual Dinner UK

Following after our AGM on next Friday, the current Committee will be holding our last ChiSoc event of the year - Annual Dinner UK, on the day
after, 10th March (Saturday). This will officially mark the transition from this year's Committee to the next, and is guaranteed to be a memorable and
fun filled evening.

This year, our Annual Dinner UK will be held in Selwyn College, and the menu is as follows:

Chinese Year New Dinner

Apart from Valentine's Day, one of the most important days in Feburary this
year is undoubtedly our Chinese New Year! Similar to past years, ChiSoc
will be organising a scumptious and festive Chinese Dinner for our members
on 'Nian Chu Yi' (1st day of the Lunar Calendar), which is 18th Feburary
(Sunday), to celebrate the coming of the Year of the Boar! You are
guaranteed to be entertained by exciting games and may even win something
special in the lucky draw. So do come along with your friends and join us
for such a fabulous night!

Pre-AGM

This year's Annual Grand Meeting (AGM) will be on 9th March (and more on
that later), and hence there's less than a month before the current
Committee hands over the torch to our successors!

We would like to invite all of you who are interested in running for ChiSoc
this year to come to our Pre-AGM next week. In the Pre-AGM, our Committee
members will explain to you the various work nature of their respective
roles so that you may better understand where your skills could be best
deployed. This information session is highly, highly recommended for
potential candidates.

Do come along and find out more about the working of ChiSoc, and perhaps
you will be inspired to run for next year's ChiSoc Committee!

"THE CHINESE TRAIL"

Everyone must be looking forward to with much excitement. As always this is an occasion
where the Chinese culture is celebrated with much pomp. As part of this year
celebrations The Corner www.thecorner.org.uk an organisation which empowers
and raises awareness between hearing and non-hearing communities in London has
organised "THE CHINESE TRAIL" a fundraising event for deaf people in London.

Scheduled to take place on 17th February between 6pm to 11pm at the Victoria &
Albert Museum (London) the fundraising event will encompass a whole variety of
Chinese activities celebrating the Chinese New Year. During the evening there
will be various performances, from professional demonstrations of Chinese Kung
Fu and Tai Chi, to a display of Chinese artwork. The highlight of the night
will be a performance by the Jinan Brothers and Sisters, a world renowned
traditional Chinese dance troupe. A fully inclusive Chinese Buffet and auction
will also be provided on the night and also there will be a chance to win
tickets to the 2008 Olympics in China. Also before and after the performances,
there will be a chance to find out more about Chinese culture and the Corner
organisation.

Tickets for this event are priced at £35 each however a group ticket for 5
people will cost £140 and can be booked online at www.thecorner.org.uk or the

As you can appreciate this will be a fantastic evening highlighting the Chinese
culture and also hoping to raise funds for a worthy cause. For further information
